Product Review: New Roots Acidophilus Ultra (Probiotic Capsules)

Current research on the types of probiotics to consume is so preliminary that all I can recommend right now is to find a supplement that has large amounts and a variety of strains. I recommend choosing a supplement with over one billion probiotic strains per capsule and that contains over 10 varieties of probiotic strains in large amounts. A gut full of a variety of different strains of probiotics helps with digestion and reduces inflammation (higher inflammation = higher risk of disease, yes pretty much every disease!).

There are some strains that have been researched and this is why I can recommend a brand like Acidophilus Ultra. Lactobacillus helveticus R0052 (alleviates antibiotic-associated diarrhea), Lactobacillus rhamnosus R0011 (strengthens immunity by keeping harmful bacteria from colonizing the gut), and Bifidobacterium R0175 (improves symptoms of inflammatory bowel disease) which have been clinically researched to provide several health benefits

Tip to taking probiotic supplements:

Probiotic supplements should be taken with your meal. More information on the content of the meal will be added as more research is done. Times you may consider taking a probiotic supplement are when you are traveling, sick, on medication, stressed, and generally experiencing poor digestion. However, probiotics are not a replacement of medicine or medical advice. It is safe to take probiotic supplements for as long as you like, but you do not have to take them if you are generally a healthy person. You can also opt to eat more probiotic-rich foods instead of taking probiotic supplements.
