Mini Guide to Baked Cereals: Baked cereals are so popular among athletes that I routinely get asked to give cereal reviews. Because there are so many cereal varieties available here is a mini guide to choosing a good cereal.
What is special about Flax Plus Multigrain Flakes: This cereal fits the requirements in the mini guide to choosing a baked cereal. Flax Plus has added flaxseed which might provide a small quantity of healthy fat and added fibre. And, importantly this cereal is readily available in many grocery stores in North America.
When to eat Flax Plus Multigrain Flakes: Eat it 3 to 4 hours before a game in a quantity to meet meal requirements. Start with 100 grams of cereal (2 & ⅓ cups). To make cereal work for an athlete’s meal have it with milk and add a vegetable protein combo such as an egg and spinach omelette. Cereal eaten in small amounts such as 50 gram (1 & ¼ cup) portions can also make a good snack 1 to 2 hours before a game.
