TOP 10: Salads Under One Dollar

May 31, 2016 , , ,

Salads are a great option for lunchtime. They’re easy to customise, easy to transport, and even easier to make. It can be tempting to run to the corner store though or even a fast food restaurant and buy an overpriced (and under-nourishing) salad in order to feel healthier when you’re pressed for time. Instead, why not try these salads? We’ve put together a list of our top 10 salads under one dollar in order to help you eat healthy for less!

#10 – Russian-Italian Salad

This potato salad is hearty and healthy and can be a meal in and of itself. Potatoes are rich in many minerals and vitamins (even more so if you leave the peel on!) and this version adds healthy oily fish to the mix — which are rich in omega fatty acids.

A light salad is sometimes just what the doctor ordered, and this one won’t disappoint. The radish is somewhat spicy, but quite subtle and sweet. And the chives are the perfect accent!

If you haven’t heard of celeriac, what about celery root? This odd tuber might not be the prettiest, but it’s delicious, with a flavour that falls somewhere between a radish and young celery. At less than a dollar, it’s definitely worth trying!
