Ingredients

3 apples, peeled, sliced 550 g
1 tbsp lemon 1/2 lemon
1 tbsp water 15 mL
2 tbsp ground cinnamon 18 g
1/4 cup brown sugar 50 g
1/2 cup white flour (all purpose) 65 g
1/2 cup rolled oats 50 g
1/2 cup butter, unsalted, or margarine 120 g

Method

  1. Heat oven to 375°F. Place apples in 8 or 9- inch square pan. Sprinkle with lemon juice, water, and 1 tsp cinnamon.
  2. Combine brown sugar, flour, rolled oats, remaining cinnamon and pudding mix in a small bowl.
  3. Melt margarine or butter. Mix with pudding mixture until crumble. Sprinkle over apples. Bake for 40-45 minutes or until apples are tender. Serve warm or cooled. If desired, serve with non-dairy creamer or non-dairy dessert topping.

Observations

Suggested use in diet: 1 serving as 1/2 regular starch and 1 low potassium fruit.

Diabetic use: 1 serving as 1/2 regular starch, 1/2 low sodium starch, 1 low potassium fruit, and 2 unsalted fats. Eat with a mixed meal.
